My 6 year old daughter went there today for her first time, I was extremely excited cause I wish she could learn self defense, she was anxious and shy. Mr. Brad was more than amazing. He walked her step by step, kept encouraging her and made her feel so comfortable she didn’t want to leave. The prices are affordable. I really recommend this to all people interested in martial arts!!!

I can’t say enough good things about Mr Clemens and Mr Coley at Horizon ATA. My daughter started her Martial Arts Journey at Horizon ATA about 2 months ago and she has grown tremendously in those few months. Not only are the instructors amazing athletes and Masters of their craft they are also amazing educators. Their enthusiasm is contagious and they meet each athlete at their individual level, challenging those that are ready and offering more support to those that need it. They work very well with athletes of all ages, and are very accommodating to the diverse learners at Horizon ATA. We could easily find Karate classes closer to where we live, but we feel Mr Clemens, Mr Coley and Horizon ATA are worth the drive.
My daughter wanted to add to this review. She said “I love how Mr Clemens and Mr Coley teach me how to do tricks and be an awesome karate girl, just in case I need to kick someone’s butt.”

Ever since we started they have been so patient with my son. He has learned so much and loves the classes.
Even during these difficult times, they have managed to do virtual and private lessons.

The instructors are wonderful. It's one of the few programs where I can trust the instructors to be respectful and supportive of my son without any accommodations or feeling like I'm privately training everyone who interacts with him. He's gaining a sense of responsibility and focus and his self esteem is improving as he works through the program.

Highly recommend. My kids (ages 7, 11) started online at the beginning of March. They are true opposites, but both agree on this activity. The instructors keep it fun and bring a lot of heart and creativity to the Zoom classes. We have health risk at home, so it's been great to have them build their skills and be a part of things at Horizon ATA. They are probably even more fun in person, but we have had a great experience with the virtual classes.

Mr Clemens and Mr Coley are wonderful instructors both on zoom and in person! They have been able to pivot and adapt to virtual karate in such a way that our 5 year old son has continued to progress through his levels and still enjoy his classes, both online and in person. They are both passionate instructors and do a great job interacting with the kids! Batman workouts are a family fave! So fun! It’s been a really great experience for us all!

My 3.5 and 6.5 year old daughters have been taking lessons since mid July and have really enjoyed their lessons. Both of the instructors are really good with young children. They help the kids stay focused while also having fun! I would definitely recommend especially for young children.

Great instructors who have a wonderful way of addressing the kids and working through behavioral issues. They have a way of getting the kids to buy in to the program and they create a great atmosphere for them all.

5 Health & Fitness Benefits of Martial Arts for Men

If you are looking for a way to improve your health or get in better shape, you may not need to hit the gym. Instead, you should head to our martial arts school. Men’s martial arts could be the fitness solution that you have been searching for. Discover the benefits of martial arts for men’s health.

  1.  Improve Your Cardiovascular Health
Perhaps the greatest benefit of men’s martial arts is improved heart health. Doctors generally recommend between 20 and 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 3 to 5 days per week. Martial arts will get you up off the couch. Whether are practicing at home or attending a men’s martial arts class, you can easily hit at least 20-minutes of cardio. This gets your blood pumping and puts stress on your heart, allowing you to increase your heart health. With improved heart health also comes a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.
  2. A Full Body Workout for Weight Loss and Fitness
Men’s martial arts can also provide a complete full body workout, helping with weight loss and overall fitness. You get a high-aerobic workout that targets quite a few different muscle groups. Each martial arts session can help you burn additional calories, while also increasing your endurance. In fact, a typical hour-long session of men’s martial arts can burn about 500 calories. For those trying to lose weight, this could be all that you need to finally blast the fat in trouble areas, such as your abdominal region.
  3. Improve Your Flexibility and Balance
By practicing men’s martial arts, you should be able to begin improving your flexibility and balance. You gain a better sense of balance, becoming more in tune with your body. The various poses and moves that you will learn provide the advantage of increasing your flexibility, keeping you limber. In a way, this is similar to the  benefits provided by yoga. You are extending your arms and legs, stretching, and performing aerobic moves that will help with your flexibility.
  4. Increase Your Self Esteem with Men’s Martial Arts
As a final benefit to men’s martial arts, you can increase your self-esteem. This is achieved in multiple ways.
By getting in better shape, you will feel better about your body. By learning self-defense techniques, you will have more confidence. This combination will have a tremendous impact on your self-esteem.
  5. Gain Improved Focus and Concentration
Men’s martial arts is not just about self-defense. You are also learning how to be still and in tune with your body. This teaches focus and concentration. You need to be able to observe your opponent and focus on how you can use their movement to your advantage. These are skills that carry through to everyday life, helping you with concentration. These same benefits that lead to improved focus and concentration can also increase your mental clarity and leave you in a calm, relaxed mood. Studies show that a men’s martial arts session can release endorphins that make you happy and content. This lasts for several hours after your workout is complete.
